Tasting the 2016 Clos de los Siete was a very pleasant surprise, further deepening our appreciation of the exceptional conditions offered by the wonderful Uco Valley. This atypical vintage, with its low temperatures and high rainfall, has produced a wine with intense aromatic expression and tremendous freshness on the palate. A vibrant ruby red color, the elegant blend offers amazing aromas of blackberries and plums with spicy floral notes. On the palate, it is balanced and fresh with a pleasant acidity characteristic of the vintage, giving it an excellent capacity to age. Cabernet-Franc was once again included in blend and, even though it accounts for just 1%, adds an agreeable hint of spice to the palate.

Blackberries, blueberries, crushed violets, hot stones and dried herbs. Full-bodied with structured tannins, great acidity drive and a medium-chewy finish. A wine that really grows on you, as it exudes charm and finesse. Drink in 2022.

Even in a tough vintage like 2016, Clos de los Siete comes through. The nose is bright and popping, with berry and cassis notes. On the palate, this Malbec blend is tight and focused, with nothing out of place. Juicy plum and berry flavors are slightly spicy in front of a firm finish.

Dark ruby-red. Alluring scents of blackberry, cassis, licorice, bitter chocolate and espresso. Suave, fine-grained and flavorful, with its sweet/savory dark fruit and spice flavors complemented by a chocolate note and nicely framed by harmonious acidity. Finishes with dusty tannins and noteworthy echoing length. This is a very good, fresh vintage for this bottling, which is an excellent value year in and year out.

This well-knit blend features lithe minerality accenting the dried red fruit and spice flavors. Notes of underbrush show midpalate, with a granular finish offering chewy tannins. Malbec, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Petit Verdot. Drink now through 2022.
