Oyster Bay Chardonnay 2017
|Region||New Zealand, Marlborough|
This Chardonnay doesn't succeed as well as the previous one. Like others in this vintage, this is a very fruity expression of a variety that is generally more understated and texturally focused. Ripe peach, melon and honeyed notes, along with a fair whack of toasty oak all feel a little sweaty and synthetic. The fruit on the palate is a touch sour and the acidity is biting, making this wine feel unbalanced.
Tangy, with citrus and melon flavors and a dash of lime sherbet. Spice notes linger on the crisp finish. Drink now. 10,000 cases made, 10,000 cases imported.
